October 2007 Wildfire

Four years ago, we had a huge county wide fire. Well, it's back this year and it's not so good. It's said to be two times worse. I was at work yesterday when I looked out the window around 2ish and saw smoke. I instantly knew it was a brush fire but didn't realize the intensity of it till smoke started to billow into our store. We had to close down all exits but two to prevent smoke & ash coming in. I called work today and they said the store was closed so here I am. Dad woke my mom and I up shortly before 6am and ordered for us to evacuate. So we started packing and everything's loaded in the car......if we ever do have to evacuate. Prayers and thoughts go out to the servicemen and women helping to contain the fire as well to those directly affected from the fire. The ash is so bothering my eyes I am tearing! Chi nghia's neighborhood has been orderd to evacuate. They're supposed to come to my house but they're not here yet. I hear there's a fire by the border, close to Cau 6's too. Hopefully they'll al be okay.

::REPOST:: Well, my cousin & uncles' homes are okay. So we are the fortunate ones. Here are a few pics of the conditions surrounding our town during the Firestorm.

This is a shot from our street. The sky was really smoky and you can see bits of orange tint in the sky. San Diego was still burning.....

I went to work on Tuesday, two days after the fire started and only Robin, Millie, Lydia, SueAnn W., and myself showed up for work. Everyone else didn't come in. Slow and worrisome day for us. Here's a pic I took on my way to work. You can see Rancho Penasquito's sky is inuadated with smoke.
